Setup your Windows machine for Automation Testing
Today I am going to explain you about, how to setup your windows machine for Automation Testing
Before we start the Automation testing scriptings,we need to make sure our machine is ready for it. Becuase there are some configurations to do on it. Butthose configurations depends on the tools, techniques that you are using for the Automation Testing
Today I will show you, how to install the Java and Eclipse. Becuase most of the people are using Java as the scripting language and Eclipse as the IDE for Automation Scripting. Today I am also selected that combination and please read the below section to see how to do it.
Java Installation Steps
01. Create an account on the Oracle — Click here to the page
02. Download the Java — After login to the Oracle website to download the Java first click here and find the Java version 8. There are more latest releases of the JDK and JRE, but if we are going to integrate our scripts/suits with the Jenkins they have only the most stable verison of the Java (Will discuss later about this). And the other reason is most of the tools and technogies supports with the Java Stable version. So find the Java 8 and click on the JDK Download link
It will redirects to the below screen and select the the JDK sub version according to your windows bit version (64bit or 32 bit)
Then accept the license as below and click on the download button
If you redirects to the login page, please enter the login details again and submit. It will automaticallly dowload the requested exe file to you location
Then find the exe file and try the below steps..
Double click on exe file > Click Next button
Click on Next > will begin copy files..
Click on Next button > Will begin to install Java
Then you can see the success popup and close it. Now Java installation is completed and you can verify it by > Open CMD > Type “Java -version”.
It will show you the version that you installed
03. Now we will see how we can set the Java varibale paths (Because after the java installation we have set the java varibale path start work with eclipse and run the java runtime engine in your local machine)
On windows search for the Advance System Setting and open it
Then select the Environment Variables > New
Then you can see the below box
Variable name : JAVA_HOME
Variable Values : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_281
(This is the path for Java installed location)
Then click on OK button
Now we are going to update the System varibale for Java
Navigate to the location that you installed the java and navigate to the inside of bin folder. Then copy the location path
Now find the “Path ” and click on it
It will open the edit envirenment varibale window and next click the “New” button to add our new envirenment varibale for java
Now paste your copied location path (Java bin path) into here as a new path. Then click on the OK button on all the opend windows.
Congratulation !! you are almost done..
(Please verify it again as we did earlier using the command promt)
Eclipse Installation Stpes
Now we are going to install the Eclipse, becuase as I told earlier we use the Eclipse as our IDe for scripting. There are many IDE’s in the industry, but most of the people are using the eclipse fot this. Because its a very goodand user friendly IDE.
01. Navigate to the Eclipse official website by clicking here to download the eltest eclipse version
Please get download it and click on the EXEfile to install it
Then select the highlighted eclipse version to install- We are selecting this version for the development proccess in JAVA
Then it will automatically start to install after clicking on this Install button
It will take few time and after completing the installation, you are done.
Now you are ready to start the Automation Testing with other techniques and the tools.
